Buzztuft faced much tragedy in her younger years, with the disappearance of her mother and the toxicity of her father ever-present in her mind, she decided to leave her old life behind early within her apprenticeship, seeking refuge in Thunderclan. It was here where she first developed her fondness for flirting - in her eyes, a way to spread kindness in a way that she never received during her time in Shadowclan. Unfortunately, this was offputting to many cats within the clan itself, often ending in sour interactions between her and other apprentices.

This habit did not change, even going into her warriorhood. Despite her good intentions, she only drove cats away with this behaviour, leaving her to feel quite lonely within the clan. Even then, her determination to make cats know that they have worth would lead to her continue on. Eventually, she found herself in a conversation with Foxbound, who while responded quite harshly to her attempts, did lead her on to further conversation. This led her to also speak with Buckbranch and Pinepuff later, allowing her to finally feel like she was forming proper friendships among all of these cats. Soon after, a relative of her, Dogpaw, joined the clan. All of these good events were soon followed by the recent Thunderclan fire, however. At this point. she has quite conflicting feelings for two cats, which is only further complicated by the grief felt from losing her home.
